Idaho winter engagement sessions can be some of the coldest sessions, but in a lot of ways they can be the most fun! Idaho weather is so unpredictable. We mostly shoot in the winter in the South Hills near Magic Mountain outside of Twin Falls. Being a Twin Falls Wedding photographer, I’ve gotten used to the unusual weather that Idaho likes to throw in. Taylor and Austin were up for the challenge and it was so much fun!
Here are 3 ways to make the most of you cold winter engagement session!
I know that it will be cold, but being prepared helps so much! I will recommend leaving the car on while we shoot, so when it does get cold we can hop in the car for a few minutes and warm up! I always bring hand warmers so that we can keep your hands and feet warm.
I also recommend having a good snow vehicle! I won’t lie, I got stuck twice in the South Hills this winter and it was miserable! Driving a good vehicle up will make a huge difference!
2. Dress for the weather!
Wear clothes that will keep you warm. You wouldn’t want to wear a tank top in the winter. I recommend layers! You can make layers cute and fun without wearing a huge puffy coat. I would love to help pick out outfits and I send an engagement session guide to each of my couples!
3. Don’t be afraid to have fun!
Getting down and playing in the snow brings so much joy and laughter to your session! Austin picked Taylor up and threw her over his shoulder and then tossed her in the snow. It adds so much fun!
